Richard Lewis (June 29, 1947 – February 27, 2024) makes a guest appearance on George Lopez as Dr. Phillip Nickleson, a psychologist and school counselor, who winds up befriending, counseling, and then, also connecting with George, who was supposed to be taking Max to see him for stress issues after witnessing a shooting at the school, as they find out that they had one thing in common: stressful relationships with their mothers in "George Finds Therapy Benny-ficial" in Season Five (episode #7).

A successful stand-up comedian and actor, Richard had been active in the entertainment industry since the early 1970s up until his passing. Richard, aside from his career in stand-up comedy, is also well recognized for his role as Marty Gold in the NBC-TV sitcom series Anything but Love with co-star Helen Hunt, as well as a guest appearance as Himself in the HBO cable sitcom series Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Richard appeared in a Frito-Lay commercial in 1996 with Miss Piggy and Kathy Ireland. After Piggy breaks down the door to an apartment where a party is taking place, he asks her, "You couldn't knock?" Richard's other Hollywood acting credits include playing Prince John in Mel Brooks's Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and a number of roles. both comedic and dramatic, on numerous TV shows which include Curb Your Enthusiasm, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Everybody Hates Chris, 7th Heaven, and The Simpsons.
