Jonathan K. Martin was the defense attorney for Benny Lopez when she is brought up on charges and faces a possible criminal trial for a "crime" she supposedly took part in 30 years earlier in Arizona with an old flame in the Season 6 opening episode of George Lopez titled "George's Mom Faces Hard Tambien", the first of two episode appearances, as he also appears in the episode "George Testi-Lies for Benny" in Season 6 (episode #4). The part of Jonathan is played by veteran TV/film actor Adam West.

About Jonathan[]

When Benny is brought up on charges that she was an accomplice of an old boyfriend named Eddie Carter (Richard Riehle) in the robbery an Arizona liquor/convenient store 30 years eariler as the prosec happened to have video "proof"(she stayed in the "getaway" car and taunted the security camera!)

When Eddie happens to run into George and Max at the neighborhood convienent store he's arrested hours later by police for also holding it up after getting set up by George to drop by the house as Eddie then goes out on a date with Benny that evening.

Jonathan, the assigned defender for Benny suggests that in his defense at the preliminary hearing to determine if she has to stand trial that he presents a "good impression" to the judge, to accentuate the qualities that would make Benny look more sympathetic as George says to Jonathan "She doesn't have none!"

When Jonathan, along with the others sees that that presiding judge over the hearing is Judge Alvarez (played by Marilyn Milian), an old romantic flame in his past that he's also worked with, whom he said to George, Angie and Benny, that he as he describes "as you young people say, proceeded to "hit it and quit it!", he gets worried that their past relationship and breakup could impact the judge's ruling in the hearing.

But, fortunately for Benny, despite Jonathan's worries, the judge does eventually render a favorable decision for Benny; although she does have to stand trial, she only gets a suspended probation sentence with time served, and only has to do community service.
