Belita Moreno (born Aurabela Moreno on November 1, 1949) plays the role of Benita "Benny" Lopez, George's overbearing mother and co-worker at Powers & Sons Aviation on the ABC-TV series George Lopez, appearing in all 120 episodes of the series. Belita is also known for her recurring role as Lydia Markham on the ABC-TV sitcom series Perfect Strangers.
About Belita[]
Belita was born in Dallas, Texas, to a Mexican mother, Aurora (née Fernandez Rodriguez), a high school Spanish teacher, and a Mexican-American father Abel Moreno, a World War II veteran. Moreno graduated from Justin F. Kimball High School, and went on to major in Theatre at Southern Methodist University (SMU).[1]
Acting career[]
She continued her acting studies at the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts in Santa Maria, CA, where she appeared in the musical Once Upon a Mattress.[2][3]
Since the early 1990s, Moreno has served as an acting coach and advisor on numerous films,[4] such as Jerry Maguire (1997), Rush Hour 2 (1998), Almost Famous, Parent Trap, The Family Man, Crossroads (2002) and 17 Again.[5] She also appeared on Disney's Wizards of Waverly Place and Fairly Legal on the USA Network.
Family/Personal life[]
Moreno is married to Joel Rudnick, a talent agent; the couple has two children.
